Present research tackles the question of the episodic nature of mountain building and the role and significance of extension through all stages of this process. Both Structural Geology and Argon Geochronology are used as research tools, with a focus presently on the region in the Alps of NW Italy.

Research involves collaboration with Professor Roberto Compagnoni at the University of Torino, a metamorphic petrologist. Prof. Compagnoni is a world leader in his field and has considerable experience and knowledge of the European Alps.
